DRUM ROLL...

We mentioned earlier that we have an exciting announcement. Coming this May we will have a new addition to the party - our daughter Kayla and hubby Kyle are expecting a baby boy! We are excited to welcome this new blessing into the fold and have every expectation of spoiling him.

Many of you watched Kayla grow up on the road with us and are faithful to ask how the kids are doing. To honor this momentous occasion, we decided to go back almost 25 years to revisit a devotion Pam wrote on a singing trip to Texas. Enjoy!

Kayla at the Cross by Pam - April 25, 2000

It was an afternoon from Heaven. The sunshine and brilliant color around us was breathtaking - fluorescent green grass and new leaves, bright purple and yellow pansies, and the occasional fluffy white cloud drifting across a pure powder blue sky. God is such an awesome artist. Kayla and Phil had the church playground all to themselves. Alisha was zonked out in her carseat taking a much needed nap and I was also in the van enjoying some much needed study and meditation time. The sun warmed the van while a gentle cool breeze blew through just at the right times to keep us comfortable. It was so peaceful and quiet with only the the birds' first songs of spring, Kayla and Daddy's playful chatter, and Alisha's slow and steady breathing to be heard.

I soaked in the wisdom of Proverbs when Kayla's voice drew near. I watched as she emerged from the playground and ran across a huge open field to three life-size crosses standing against a backdrop of thick woods. Kayla ran to the middle cross on a small hill the size of a pitcher's mound. She stopped and gazed up at the cross. After several seconds, she climbed the mound and reached her hand ever so slowly to touch the rough wooden surface. Instantly she withdrew her hand, flung herself down the hill and sprinted back across the field as fast as she could to tell her Daddy every exciting detail. My heart soared, and joy poured from my eyes as I heard and experienced all the innocence, intrigue, and excitement of her first glimpse of grace.

Matt. 19:14 "Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." The Life Application bible says it best about trust as it is applied in this verse, "Jesus wanted little children to come because He loves them and because they have the kind of attitude needed to approach God. He didn't mean that heaven is only for children, but that people need childlike attitudes of trust in God."

As parents, we want our children to look to our example for how they should live. We pray for God's wisdom and guidance to be the role models He wants us to be, but when it comes to TRUST, the table is turned. We need to look to our children. Their simple faith is free from the self-centeredness in life that gets in the way of trusting God. We look to our education, experience, and sophistication, rather than turning our eyes to the one who sees all, who knew us before we were even conceived, and who knows the end of the story as well as all the answers along the way.

Lord, restore to us childlike faith. Teach us to trust you as innocently and completely as our children trust us. Thank you so much for Kayla, and for using her innocence and joy at the cross to engrave a beautiful memory and lesson in our hearts forever.

Welcome to May! So much has been happening around Morganville, let's jump right to it! Phil's mom is home from the hospital and rehab and making slow and steady progress. For those of you just tuning in, back in March a neighborhood dog knocked her down in the street. No broken bones but she was pretty banged up. She had to get home and healed up in time for her first great-grandbaby... Which brings us to our oldest daughter and son-in-law who are expecting their first child late this month....

Donkey Day by Phil Today I'd like to pay homage to the humble donkey, whose unfortunate ancient name has caused much derision and more than a few chuckles. In fact, this poor animal was replaced by a lamb in modern renditions of the classic Christmas song "What Child is This?" If you were ever teased because of your name, you'll empathize with our friend, the donkey. The donkey was domesticated in Africa between 5,000 and 7,000 years ago. They were probably first used as pack animals in Nubia...

Mid-Month Check in Wow, life has been busy around the Morgan household! Not only with Holy week (which is always packed), but on several fronts. Here are the highlights plus an exciting new opportunity! On March 12th, Phil's mom was walking down to get her mail when a neighborhood dog excitedly knocked her down in the road. Fortunately no broken bones, but she hit her head, shoulder, side and hip. She was very bruised, swollen and skinned up. She was in the hospital for just over a week, then...
