Mid-Month Check in Wow, life has been busy around the Morgan household! Not only with Holy week (which is always packed), but on several fronts. Here are the highlights plus an exciting new opportunity! On March 12th, Phil's mom was walking down to get her mail when a neighborhood dog excitedly knocked her down in the road. Fortunately no broken bones, but she hit her head, shoulder, side and hip. She was very bruised, swollen and skinned up. She was in the hospital for just over a week, then transferred to a rehab facility for another thirteen days. She is home now and doing much better but still has a way to go. Thanks for all your prayers! Our youngest daughter flew in from Chicago to help host a baby shower for her big sister at our house. Her decorating skills came in handy as she transformed our home into "babyland." The mom-to-be and her hubby are both doing fine and ready to make us grandparents sometime next month! On the ministry side, we are excited about some new opportunities. Finances since Covid have been challenging since Pam is not physically able to keep the busy schedule we used to, and as opportunities to minister are not as plentiful as they once were. Our ministry partners have been crucial to keep us going which is greatly appreciated! (Thank you for your faithful obedience to God's leading) We still feel God's call to encourage believers in their daily walk with our music and story, and God has come up with a creative way for us to continue doing that. For the past two winters, Phil has been helping lead worship at a local church while our travel schedule is lighter. It has been such a perfect fit with their new pastor, the church has asked Phil to become their official Minister of Music. Best of all, they recognize God's hand in our ministry and are excited for us to continue that as well. So most Sundays and Wednesdays, you'll find Phil at Big Creek Baptist church in Pleasant Hill, MO, and during the week and on weekend evenings we will continue to share our ministry with churches throughout the midwest. Our heart's desire is to continue to faithfully follow God's call and this new opportunity will allow us to do that without the burden of so much travel. It also allows us to be closer to home to help with aging parents and a new grandbaby! Ministry partners, you are still a crucial component of our ongoing ministry efforts, and you are appreciated more than you know! So after 29 years in ministry, we can gratefully say we're... It's Personal by Phil This Sunday we celebrate the apex of the Christian year - Resurrection Sunday, also known as Easter! Most of the year we strive to remember that "it's not about me." We are not the center of our universe, God is, and everything revolves around Him. The message of this season is the exact opposite - "it's all about me." God's love for us is so great, even if you or I were the only person in need, Jesus would have still died on that cross. The crucifixion is the ultimate...
The Distance Between Blessed and Blessing by Phil A popular phrase over the past several years is "Pay it forward." According to Google's AI overview, "Pay it forward" means to repay a kindness you receive by doing a good deed for someone else, rather than paying back the original person, creating a chain reaction of generosity. Instead of returning a favor directly, you pass on the goodwill to a new person, often a stranger, with the hope that they will do the same for someone else. In our...
Authentically Irish? by Phil Happy St. Patrick's Day! Last year we celebrated by taking a closer (and somewhat disturbing) look at St. Patrick himself, who wasn't Irish or even a saint. (Yes, he is recognized as the patron saint of Ireland, but was never formally canonized by a pope, because he lived before the modern, official canonization process was established. Oh, the things you learn in these devotions!) As I said, we already covered that ground, so this year I thought we'd investigate...
