Mid-Month Check in

Mid-Month Check in

Wow, life has been busy around the Morgan household! Not only with Holy week (which is always packed), but on several fronts. Here are the highlights plus an exciting new opportunity!

On March 12th, Phil's mom was walking down to get her mail when a neighborhood dog excitedly knocked her down in the road. Fortunately no broken bones, but she hit her head, shoulder, side and hip. She was very bruised, swollen and skinned up. She was in the hospital for just over a week, then transferred to a rehab facility for another thirteen days. She is home now and doing much better but still has a way to go. Thanks for all your prayers!

Our youngest daughter flew in from Chicago to help host a baby shower for her big sister at our house. Her decorating skills came in handy as she transformed our home into "babyland." The mom-to-be and her hubby are both doing fine and ready to make us grandparents sometime next month!

On the ministry side, we are excited about some new opportunities. Finances since Covid have been challenging since Pam is not physically able to keep the busy schedule we used to, and as opportunities to minister are not as plentiful as they once were. Our ministry partners have been crucial to keep us going which is greatly appreciated! (Thank you for your faithful obedience to God's leading)

We still feel God's call to encourage believers in their daily walk with our music and story, and God has come up with a creative way for us to continue doing that. For the past two winters, Phil has been helping lead worship at a local church while our travel schedule is lighter. It has been such a perfect fit with their new pastor, the church has asked Phil to become their official Minister of Music. Best of all, they recognize God's hand in our ministry and are excited for us to continue that as well. So most Sundays and Wednesdays, you'll find Phil at Big Creek Baptist church in Pleasant Hill, MO, and during the week and on weekend evenings we will continue to share our ministry with churches throughout the midwest.

Our heart's desire is to continue to faithfully follow God's call and this new opportunity will allow us to do that without the burden of so much travel. It also allows us to be closer to home to help with aging parents and a new grandbaby! Ministry partners, you are still a crucial component of our ongoing ministry efforts, and you are appreciated more than you know!

So after 29 years in ministry, we can gratefully say we're...

Still serving Jesus!

Welcome to May! So much has been happening around Morganville, let's jump right to it! Phil's mom is home from the hospital and rehab and making slow and steady progress. For those of you just tuning in, back in March a neighborhood dog knocked her down in the street. No broken bones but she was pretty banged up. She had to get home and healed up in time for her first great-grandbaby... Which brings us to our oldest daughter and son-in-law who are expecting their first child late this month....

Donkey Day by Phil Today I'd like to pay homage to the humble donkey, whose unfortunate ancient name has caused much derision and more than a few chuckles. In fact, this poor animal was replaced by a lamb in modern renditions of the classic Christmas song "What Child is This?" If you were ever teased because of your name, you'll empathize with our friend, the donkey. The donkey was domesticated in Africa between 5,000 and 7,000 years ago. They were probably first used as pack animals in Nubia...

The Rest of the Story... by Phil Alright, it's confession time. Have you ever skipped to the last page of a book to see how the story will end? There is a certain comfort in knowing that everything will work out OK and the hero will ride off into the sunset. (For the girls, this would include his true love by his side; for the guys, it would involve a long trail of enemies who died horrific, painful and dramatic deaths.) What makes the story interesting is the journey to get to the end, and...
